Pluto transits are known for their transformative power, often bringing profound change. This guide, based on over two decades of experience helping people through these transits, offers practical insights and advice for navigating this potentially challenging but ultimately rewarding period.
Chapter 1: Pluto Transit as a Psychological Process
All transits manifest as both external and internal changes. While we often hope for (or fear) external changes, true transformation typically occurs within. Let’s begin by exploring the psychological journey inherent in a Pluto transit:
Transiting Pluto as a Symbol of Death and Rebirth
Pluto, the god of the underworld, symbolizes death and rebirth. Psychologically, this represents a profound transformation where we shed our old identity and emerge as someone new.
This deep change often requires letting go of something (or someone) that supported our former identity.
Let’s take for example, a transformation in the form of a smoker quitting smoking. Previously, you identified as a smoker. Then, one day, you quit because that identity no longer resonated with you.
Similarly, leaving an abusive or toxic relationship can also feel like death and rebirth. A year after making that change, you may look back and wonder why you endured it for so long. You no longer see yourself as someone who tolerates such relationships.
Those who have experienced a Pluto transit can likely relate to this: it often feels like a complete transformation of identity is taking place.
Loss as a Catalyst of Transformation
Let me first clarify that Pluto transits do not necessarily involve literal deaths or tangible losses. More often, they signal a period of profound personal transformation, where some aspect of your being is deepened or empowered.
However, if a loss does occur during the onset of a Pluto transit, it often serves as a catalyst for the deep transformation that was necessary.
For instance, ending an abusive relationship can feel like a significant loss. In reflecting on the experience, you might uncover a pattern of mistreatment that traces back to the way your parents treated you or each other.
This realization can inspire you to delve into and release old, dysfunctional patterns through therapeutic exploration and/or creative expression. In this way, the loss becomes a catalyst for profound healing and personal transformation.
A Descent into the Underworld of Your Psyche
Katabasis, a Greek term, refers to the journey into Hades’ (Pluto’s) underground realm. In Greek mythology, heroes and heroines undertake this journey to the Underworld to talk with the dead and acquire necessary knowledge.
Psychologically, katabasis represents the descent into the deeper layers of the psyche, where raw emotions and buried memories reside. Here, “talking to the dead” symbolizes confronting past versions of yourself through repressed memories, feelings, and traumas.
Pluto transits can trigger katabasis, bringing repressed emotions to the surface, usually prompted by an external crisis. Instead of focusing solely on the external crisis, it can be more beneficial to explore the emotions arising and identify which past experiences they echo.
Confronting Fears During a Pluto Transit
Fear is a key emotion that often surfaces during a Pluto transit. While many people dread negative outcomes like loss or failure, it’s also common to fear success or positive changes.
For instance, you might have an opportunity to showcase your creative talents or step into a leadership role within your group. While these opportunities could bring greater satisfaction and success, they might also expose you to criticism or rejection.
In relationships, you might have the chance to fully trust someone but feel afraid of getting hurt or betrayed. Without overcoming this fear, you risk never experiencing deep, meaningful connections.
The fears that arise during a Pluto transit can be particularly intense, especially if you carry the weight of past traumas. This transit presents a unique opportunity for healing, provided you have the courage to confront and release the pain of the past.
Empowerment: Accessing Pluto’s Riches
A Pluto transit isn’t about meaningless suffering—no transit is. It’s important to remember that Pluto also symbolizes wealth (as reflected in terms like ‘plutocracy’).
During a Pluto transit, you have the potential to be empowered and enriched, both literally and figuratively, if you’re willing to confront your fears and let go of old identities. Embracing change can open the door to seizing greater personal power and opportunities.
For example, Warren Buffett experienced Pluto transiting his Midheaven (MC) from 1978 to 1980. During this time, his close friend Charlie Munger became vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and later merged his company with Buffett’s, forming a partnership that lasted 45 years and became one of the most successful in business history. That was a huge empowerment in terms of Buffett’s career (MC).
Now that you’ve explored the psychological dynamics typical of a Pluto transit, we’ll move on to practicing how to apply these insights to transits involving each natal planet.
Chapter 2: Pluto Transit to Natal Planets
The following descriptions primarily focus on transiting Pluto forming a conjunction, square, or opposition to your natal planets. These hard aspects often bring tension that compels change through action.
If you’re experiencing a soft aspect (such as a trine or sextile) from Pluto, much of the guidance in this chapter still applies. However, soft aspects tend to offer opportunities for growth with less external pressure. They hold the potential for transformation, but it’s up to you to consciously engage with the energy to bring about meaningful change.
Pluto Transit to Natal Sun
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Sun
Discarding Old Identity
The Sun represents your identity and life purpose. When transiting Pluto conjuncts, squares, or opposes your natal Sun, you are invited to deeply examine and release outdated aspects of your identity, making room for a clearer sense of purpose.
During this transit, reflect on these questions: Do you appreciate the person you’ve become? Is there untapped creative energy within you, waiting to emerge? Are you ready to let go of situations or roles that no longer serve your growth?
A Pluto-Sun transit is a powerful time to reassess your beliefs and routines, shedding those that no longer align with who you are becoming. If you encounter significant external changes, view them as catalysts for necessary transformation.
Overcoming the Fear of Self Expression
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.”
— Marianne Williamson
Is there something you’ve always wanted to pursue but held back from? The fears that arise during a Pluto transit to your Sun often center on fully expressing your potential. You may feel capable of great things, yet hesitate due to a fear of being seen or exposed.
This is an ideal time to face those fears and embrace authentic self-expression. While stepping into your true self can stir old fears of rejection, Pluto-Sun transits provide the opportunity to confront and release them. Instead of being held back by past experiences, you can emerge as a more energetic and authentic version of yourself.
Empowerment and Prominence
A Pluto transit can be a period of profound empowerment. When Pluto makes contact with your natal Sun, it can amplify your solar potential, pushing you toward greater prominence and achievement.
A Real-Life Example: Elon Musk
Elon Musk experienced transiting Pluto opposition to his natal Sun in 2010, the year Tesla, Inc. held its Initial Public Offering (IPO). Within a decade, Tesla became the most valuable carmaker and joined the S&P 500. The IPO marked a significant empowerment of Musk’s life purpose (represented by the Sun). It’s also noteworthy that Musk’s natal Sun rules his 2nd house, which governs money and wealth.
Pluto Transit to Natal Moon
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Moon
Healing Old Wounds
The Moon represents your memories and emotions. When transiting Pluto conjuncts, squares or opposes your natal Moon, old emotional wounds may resurface, potentially triggering intense reactions.
One of the transformative effects of a Pluto-Moon transit is the opportunity to release old, toxic emotions that have been buried in your subconscious. This period calls for a thorough emotional housecleaning, allowing you to purge what no longer serves you.
If certain situations in your work or personal relationships evoke strong emotional responses, recognize that this could be part of a healing crisis. These moments provide a chance to confront and heal deep-seated emotional patterns.
Getting in Touch with Deeper Needs
The Natal Moon symbolizes your core emotional needs—what truly fulfills your soul. A Pluto transit to your Moon offers a profound opportunity to ask, “Am I feeling truly fulfilled? Is my soul receiving what it needs?” During this time, transiting Pluto can strip away the distractions of daily life, allowing you to connect with your deeper soul desires.
If there’s an emotional need you’ve been neglecting, this is the moment to be honest with yourself and seek ways to address it. Ignored emotions have a way of demanding attention, so it’s essential to acknowledge and honor them. In turn, paying attention to your needs will allow for more authentic emotional expressions.
Acquiring Emotional Strength and Wisdom
A Pluto-Moon transit is an intensely personal period that tests your readiness for emotional growth. By confronting and releasing suppressed emotions, you cultivate greater emotional awareness, unlocking the potential for deeper fulfillment in life.
As the transit unfolds, you’ll likely develop a stronger emotional resilience and a deeper understanding of yourself. This internal shift can change the energy you project, leading others to trust you more or open up to you. People may sense, “This person has some depth. I can trust them.”
Pluto Transit to Natal Mercury
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Mercury
Acquiring New & Deeper Perspectives
Mercury represents your thinking and communication style. When transiting Pluto contacts your Mercury, it’s an invitation to release outdated beliefs and perspectives that no longer serve you.
During this transit, you might notice limiting beliefs about yourself or your potential, or perhaps outdated ideas about relationships that no longer reflect your current reality. This is an excellent time to reflect on where your thought patterns may be keeping you stuck and to embrace new ways of thinking.
Thinking Bigger
As transiting Pluto pushes you to transform your perspective, you may feel compelled to expand your thinking. It’s as if the box you’ve been living in has suddenly become too small, and you now recognize the vast world beyond it, urging you to step out.
During a Pluto-Mercury transit, reflect on how you can make a greater impact on the world or elevate your skills and knowledge to levels you once thought unattainable. This is a powerful time to broaden the scope of your thinking and embrace larger, more ambitious ideas.
Empowering Your Authentic Voice
When transiting Pluto influences Mercury, your communication may become more persuasive and impactful. This could stem from gaining deeper knowledge in your area of expertise or developing a more profound understanding of yourself and others.
Pluto-Mercury transit may challenge you to confront your fears around speaking your mind. As Pluto strips away superficial layers in your communication, you may find yourself expressing greater emotional honesty. Your voice becomes more authentic, carrying the power to deeply move and influence others.
Pluto also governs powers within groups. During this transit, you might find yourself in a position to communicate with a larger audience, enhancing your ability to inspire and affect others through your words.
Pluto Transit to Natal Venus
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Venus
Healing Relationship Wounds
When transiting Pluto forms a conjunction, square, or opposition to your natal Venus, it ushers in an emotionally intense period marked by profound highs and lows in your relationships. This is a symbolic journey into the underworld—a katabasis of Venus—that offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on past relationships and unearth the root causes of unresolved issues.
If you’ve noticed recurring unhealthy patterns in your relationships, this is the perfect time to dig deep, uncover where those patterns originated, and begin healing the original wound.
By becoming aware of and addressing these wounds, you can recover your capacity to fully love and trust others. This process not only makes you wiser but also deepens your understanding of yourself and those around you.
Reclaiming Your Power in Relationships
Pluto is the planet of power and transformation. During a Pluto-Venus transit, themes of power and control often surface in your personal and professional relationships.
If you’ve been dealing with individuals who exert power in unhealthy or inappropriate ways, this is the time to reclaim your personal authority.
Ask yourself:
- How can you navigate these dynamics without relinquishing your power?
- What compromises feel fair and empowering to you?
- What steps would help you feel more confident and balanced in this relationship?
By addressing these questions, you can assert your boundaries and create relationships built on mutual respect and authenticity, rather than domination or submission.
Transforming Your Relationships with Others (and Yourself)
Venus represents your values, self-worth, and the way you relate to others. A Pluto transit can unearth fears of inadequacy or concerns about whether you are truly lovable as you are. If such feelings emerge, this is a transformative moment to confront and release these insecurities.
By fully embracing and accepting yourself—flaws and all—you can undergo a profound inner shift. This not only enhances your ability to connect with others but also transforms how others perceive you.
A Pluto-Venus transit has the potential to empower your Venus energy, making you more magnetic, valued, and appreciated. As you deepen your self-love and self-acceptance, you radiate authenticity and confidence, which can significantly enhance your relationships and overall influence.
A Real-Life Example: Barack Obama
A compelling example of a Pluto-Venus transit is Barack Obama, who experienced transiting Pluto opposite his natal Venus during 2008–2009. This period coincided with his historic election as the first African American President of the United States. This transit symbolized a dramatic transformation in his public image, fueled by his popularity (Venus) and the deep connection he forged with the collective.
Interestingly, his natal Venus is positioned on the Aries Point, further amplifying his ability to resonate with and captivate the public during this period.
Pluto Transit to Natal Mars
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Mars
Handling Excessive Force
When transit Pluto forms a conjunction, square, or opposition to your natal Mars, it marks a period of intense passion and empowerment. The energy of your natal Mars—representing anger and desire—gets amplified to extreme levels.
As Mars, the god of war, symbolizes conflict and action, these transits often bring battles to the forefront. During this time, it’s crucial to reflect and ask yourself:
What am I truly fighting for? Who is my real enemy?
You may discover that the fiercest battle isn’t external but internal, as unresolved emotions or inner struggles emerge as your greatest adversaries.
The Danger of Externalizing the Enemy
Transiting Pluto opposing natal Mars deserves special attention, as it often creates a tendency to see the “enemy” as external. During this transit, you may encounter someone who tries to overpower you, potentially using force in an unjust or inappropriate way. While this dynamic can arise with other Pluto-Mars aspects, it’s especially common with oppositions.
Standing up to oppressors and fighting to protect your interests is a crucial part of strengthening your Mars. Transits to Mars frequently demand decisive and courageous action, which may mean speaking up and “rocking the boat” when necessary.
However, there’s also a risk of projecting negative qualities entirely onto others. Could the traits you despise in someone else—such as a desire to control, manipulate, or make others wrong—also exist within you?
If you continue to oppose someone without examining your own projections, the conflict may reach a frustrating impasse. This stagnant energy can intensify aggression and frustration, making resolution even harder to achieve.
A Real-Life Example: Pope Francis’ Inner Work
Pope Francis experienced transiting Pluto conjunct natal Mars in 1979, during his time as a young priest in Argentina. At the height of the military dictatorship, he sought help from a psychiatrist to manage anxiety. Over the course of six months, he attended weekly psychoanalysis sessions, which he later described as highly beneficial. Despite facing immense external challenges, he turned inward to confront his fears and build courage—a reflection of Mars’ strength.
During a Pluto-Mars transit, it’s crucial to remain clear about your ultimate goals. Without this clarity, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the intense emotions and frustrations that may arise when facing opposition.
Pluto Transit to Natal Jupiter
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Jupiter
Inner Resourcefulness
Jupiter symbolizes rewards, optimism, and faith. When Pluto transits your natal Jupiter, it often activates increased resourcefulness, as you tap into a hidden reservoir of faith, optimism, and determination. External events may trigger a renewal of faith in yourself, offering new inspiration to keep striving.
Such renewal often comes after navigating challenges—and realizing that you’ve emerged stronger, or at least relatively unscathed. Additionally, witnessing the struggles of others can provide a fresh perspective, deepening your gratitude and reinforcing your sense of purpose.
Seeing Deeper Truths
Pluto governs the hidden and unseen depths, and when it activates Jupiter, it amplifies Jupiter’s qualities by allowing you to uncover deeper truths.
During a Pluto-Jupiter transit, you may uncover hidden knowledge or key insights that dramatically accelerate your progress toward your goals. These insights can come through education, field research, or real-world experience, granting you clarity about the bigger picture.
Magnified Reward Potential
Pluto symbolizes wealth and transformation, while Jupiter represents abundance and rewards. Together, a Pluto-Jupiter transit can bring exceptional opportunities for success, potentially propelling you to new levels of achievement or prominence.
A Real-Life Example: Paramhansa Yogananda
Paramhansa Yogananda (author of Autobiography of a Yogi) experienced transiting Pluto square his natal Jupiter in 1927. That year, he became the first prominent Indian spiritual leader to be hosted at the White House by President Calvin Coolidge, marking a milestone in his international influence.
Pluto Transit to Natal Saturn
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Saturn
A Test of Stability
Saturn represents structure, stability, and long-established foundations in life. When transiting Pluto conjuncts, squares, or opposes natal Saturn, it pushes these structures to their limits, testing their strength and resilience. If a foundation has grown too rigid or outdated, this transit may signal the need to dismantle and rebuild something stronger.
For example, if you’ve been in the same job for years but no longer find fulfillment in it, Pluto-Saturn transit may prompt you to question whether it’s worth holding onto or if it’s time to pursue a more meaningful career path.
Likewise, if you’ve been in a long-term relationship that has been eroding under unspoken frustrations, this transit can bring a period of crisis, forcing a deep examination of the bond’s true strength.
A Pluto-Saturn transit doesn’t necessarily mean actual loss, but it often stirs a profound fear of it—urging you to evaluate what needs to be repaired, reinforced, or completely transformed in your life.
Rebuilding a Stronger Foundation
Pluto, as the planet of death and rebirth, doesn’t just tear down old structures—it paves the way for something stronger, more resilient, and better suited for the future.
Think of a city skyline. When an outdated building is demolished, it’s rarely left as an empty lot. In its place, a modern skyscraper or a state-of-the-art development rises, built to meet new needs and challenges.
If you’re facing a loss or upheaval during a Pluto-Saturn transit, consider that this may be a necessary clearing—a space being made for something more aligned with your growth. What comes next could be stronger, more sustainable, and ultimately, more fulfilling.
A Period of Hard Work and Accomplishment
Saturn represents discipline, effort, and responsibility. When transiting Pluto activates natal Saturn, it often signals a period of intense labor—where maximum effort is required to reach your ambitions.
This transit can bring an intense workload, pushing both your physical and mental limits. However, if you’ve been committed to a meaningful project, this may also be the time when your efforts start to pay off. Saturn rewards perseverance, and Pluto amplifies Saturn’s drive, making this a period where hard work can lead to lasting achievements.
While pushing through challenges is necessary, it’s just as important to balance the intensity with adequate rest, sleep, and relaxation. True resilience comes not just from hard work, but from knowing when to recharge.
A Real-Life Example: George R.R. Martin
In 1996, during transiting Pluto square his natal Saturn, George R.R. Martin published Game of Thrones, the first book in his acclaimed A Song of Ice and Fire series. This marked a major turning point in his career—a moment of empowerment where years of dedication and ambition began to bear fruit.
Pluto Transit to Natal Uranus
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Uranus
Empowering Your Individuality
Uranus symbolizes freedom, independence, and individuality. When transiting Pluto conjuncts, squares, or opposes your natal Uranus, you may feel an urgent need to break free and claim your unique path.
During this period, you might become acutely aware of external or internal forces suppressing your freedom—including the inner voice that warns you not to “rock the boat.” This transit signals that something has become intolerable, pushing you to take decisive action to protect your right to be yourself.
Upsetting the Status Quo
Uranus represents innovation and sudden change, while Pluto embodies transformation through destruction and rebirth. When these forces clash, the status quo often becomes unsustainable—forcing a necessary shift.
The key to navigating this transit is embracing change, both within yourself and your circumstances. It might be time to stand up for yourself at work and claim the recognition you deserve, or finally pursue the education or passion you’ve put off due to fear of others’ judgment.
This transit carries a spirit of passionate rebellion—an “enough is enough” moment. Follow where your desire for freedom and innovation leads; you may find yourself reinventing your life in a deeply satisfying way.
A Real-Life Example: Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela experienced transiting Pluto square his natal Uranus in 1994. That year, his party won the general election, and he was elected the first President of South Africa. This historic moment marked a profound shift, both for Mandela and for the nation, as apartheid officially ended and a new era of transformation began.
Pluto Transit to Natal Neptune
Transit Pluto Conjunct, Square, or Opposite Natal Neptune
Uncovering Hidden Worlds
Both Neptune and Pluto represent forces within the collective unconscious. Pluto reveals life’s hidden, darker dimensions, while Neptune rules unseen realms—where dreams take shape and artists find inspiration.
When transiting Pluto conjuncts, squares, or opposes your natal Neptune, it may open new dimensions of awareness. You might experience vivid dreams with deep personal meaning, have an uncanny supernatural encounter, or develop a strong interest in spiritual, mystical, or mysterious subjects. This transit often brings a heightened sense of intuition, pulling you toward the unknown.
Channeling Deep Inspiration
A Pluto-Neptune transit can be a period of profound creative inspiration, especially for those in artistic or visionary fields. Pluto’s influence deepens your intuitive perception, allowing you to tap into more primal emotions and express them in powerful, transformative ways. Whether through art, music, film, or writing, this transit can bring forth work that resonates on a deep, almost archetypal level.
A Real-Life Example: Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie experienced transiting Pluto conjunct her natal Neptune in 1999. That year, she portrayed a sociopathic psychiatric patient in Girl, Interrupted, a role that demanded an intense, sinister passion. Her performance earned her widespread acclaim, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Pluto Transit square Natal Pluto
Transit Pluto Square Natal Pluto
A Technical Note on Timing: Due to Pluto’s highly elliptical orbit, its speed varies over time. Those born in the 2000s will likely experience transiting Pluto squaring their natal Pluto in their 50s, while individuals born in the latter half of the 20th century typically encounter this transit in their 40s.
A Profound Shift in Perspective
Pluto governs deep psychological truths, transformation, and power. When transiting Pluto forms a square to natal Pluto, life demands that you dig deeper. The awareness that has guided you up to this point may no longer be sufficient to navigate your current challenges.
This period often marks a time of intense self-examination. You may feel drawn to explore therapeutic or introspective methods to deepen your psychological insight. Alternatively, a sudden revelation—an epiphany—may fundamentally alter how you see yourself and your life’s direction.
Beyond personal transformation, this transit can also heighten your awareness of power dynamics in the world around you. You might gain a clearer understanding of how power is used—or misused—in your environment. This realization may compel you to claim more authority in your own life, stepping into a new level of personal empowerment.
Summary: Working with a Pluto Transit
A Pluto transit challenges you to transform your perspective. While often regarded as one of the more intense transits in astrology, I believe it brings welcome changes—if you’re willing to confront and release old, disempowering beliefs.
Are you currently experiencing a Pluto transit, or have you gone through one in the past? I’d love to hear your thoughts—share your experience in the comments below!

Dear Hiroki, thank you so much for so freely explaining this important chapter in my life. I have Pluto in my first house (Virgo) and it is influencing Venus in my 6th house. The transformation started on May 4, 2025 with an immediate and rather unforseen loss of two family members within one week.
It was the first change I truely went through and I am still trying to get up my feet again. There is already a follow up as I am challenged to set some bounderies for myself. So, I totally feel what you wrote. My question is: are the houses involved in the transformation too? If so, what is the deeper meaning in relation to the transit period? Thanks for explaning.
Hello Margot,
I’m so sorry for your loss — that must have been an incredibly difficult experience.
Yes, houses can definitely play an important role in understanding a transit. When Pluto moves through the 1st house, it often signals a deep transformation of identity — a breaking down of old patterns and the emergence of a new self. If transiting Pluto is also forming an aspect to Venus, it would be helpful to look at both the house where Venus is located and the houses that Venus rules, since those areas of life are likely being touched by this process.
For a more complete and personal interpretation, I’d recommend scheduling a private session.
Hi! I’m still going through a pluto conjunction transit currently but it’s been with my natal ascendant. My life has changed significantly since the beginning and it’s been a very emotional time, i’m curious if the gaps in the conjunction have any significant meaning?
Thanks!
Hi Carmen, did you mean the intervals between Pluto’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd passes during its retrograde cycle? I do think the transformative effects are still active throughout those periods, though the shifts often become more noticeable when Pluto makes the exact conjunction (I’d allow about a one-degree orb).
Hello again,
It gets more personally complex too. My own natal chart also has Saturn 25°37’ conjunct Venus at 25°38’ in Aries, so those same two planets are square transiting Pluto in my chart also. Also transiting Pluto is opposite my midheaven at 23°53 Cancer, as well as transiting Mars (22°1’ Virgo) conjunct my own natal Pluto (23°29 Virgo- 12th house).
I am concerned about possibly losing my dad. I understand death happens to all of us, and that he is old. I am just feeling sad.
Thank you.
Hello Tina,
I’m very sorry to hear about your father’s health situation. It’s incredibly difficult and painful to watch a loved one go through something like this—especially at an advanced age.
While astrology cannot predict death, what it can do is reflect periods of stress and transformation. In your father’s chart, transiting Pluto’s squares and oppositions to his natal planets (which are in the late degrees of cardinal signs) likely represented a time of internal pressure or developing issues—but that phase has already passed. Pluto is now at 2° Aquarius, so the most intense symbolic pressure from those aspects is likely behind him.
What matters now is how well his body can respond and recover. That part is deeply individual and outside the scope of what astrology can forecast.
Please know my sincere wishes are with you and your father for a strong and full recovery.
Warmly,
Hiroki
Thank you for your kind reply. My father came down with pneumonia and peacefully passed away, surrounded with his four children on July 22. He never made it to the surgery.
Hello,
My father who is 86, very recently (3 weeks ago) had a tumor in his head discovered. He spent 8 days in the hospital where we experienced quite a lot of frustration, and inaction on the part of the doctors and hospital. Now he is scheduled for a brain tumor surgery on July 25, 2025.
Pluto (at 2°36’ r Aquarius) will be transiting several major points in his natal chart.
Pluto transits on the date of the surgery will include:
Opposite his natal Pluto (29°31’ Cancer) as well as Square his natal Saturn/Venus (they are conjunct at 25°39’ and 29°02’ Aries, respectively, in his natal chart).
Transiting Pluto will also be conjunct his natal Mars (28°19’ Capricorn).
This seems like a lot of major influences, and I would appreciate any insight you can provide.
Thank you.
Thank you, Hiroki, for this most useful explanation of a Pluto Transit. How would you explain and advise for someone (me) having a Pluto square the nodes transit? Grateful thanks in advance.
Hi Lynna, Nodes are associated with meetings and groups, so transiting Pluto square Nodes can suggest a potential for meeting someone that will be very important for you, and/or participating in a group event that has a Plutonian feel (including psychology and astrology, or groups that deal with a lot of power).
Thanks for the article. I have a few months left before Pluto completes its transit through my natal moon. But I cannot see the point of the transit. All it’s done is left me completely hollowed. A hollow version of who I was. It’s knocked confidence, made me anxious, isolated, non trusting, constantly triggered and feel more alone than ever. It’s been transformative but not in a way I can see any positive benefit . There was no value to going through it, no light at the end of the tunnel. It gutted me emotionally and I’ll never be the same again, it took every ounce of hope & made it difficult to have any joy in life. So what was the point of that experience? Simply to make us suffer. That’s it. That’s the transit.
Hi Clara,
Thank you for sharing your experience — what you’re going through sounds deeply painful.
From an astrological perspective, transits don’t cause us to feel hollow — they reflect the internal and external changes already unfolding in our lives. Rather than seeing the transit as the source of the pain, it can be more helpful to look at the actual life events and circumstances that brought about these feelings, and to work through the emotions they’ve stirred — whether grief, sorrow, anger, or something else.
While it may not feel like it now, this kind of transit can become a turning point toward greater emotional truth and resilience. If you’d like to explore this more personally, you’re very welcome to book a consultation.
Wishing you clarity and strength as you move forward.
So I have a 0 degree Aquarius Moon in the 3H – Saturn sits next to it a 1 degree. Oddly this transit has been “chill” emotionally. No extreme highs and lows. Any idea why it hasn’t been that intense for me?
Hi Kameron, that’s really interesting! With Saturn right next to your Moon, its stabilizing influence might be helping you stay grounded through this transit. Saturn can bring emotional resilience and a sense of discipline, which could be helping. Also, if you’ve already done a lot of inner work around emotional transformation, Pluto’s impact might feel more like a deepening rather than a dramatic upheaval. Have you noticed any shifts in your mindset or communication style (since it’s happening in your 3rd house)?
I had a feeling that Saturn was acting as a buffer. Maybe filtering Pluto’s energy in a more structured way. I guess I should be glad I was born with Saturn next to my Moon Lol
I have been trying to change my mindset around my emotions and the relationship with mother. Bit by bit
The number of new huge apartment blocks around us for months with roads being ripped up repaved too and everywhere is like nothing I ve ever seen in 80 years –
Can t imagine how many people will surround us once people move in.
Hiroki, I always enjoy your interesting and informative writings. Just curious how you would see Pluto transiting nodes? What about sextiles and trines? I generally consider these aspects opportunities.
Thank you
Hi Karen, thanks for the kind words!
Pluto – Node transit is significant, especially hard aspects. I see it as indicative of important meetings, encountering people that have a deep impact on you.
Transiting sextiles and trines have less tension compared to hard aspects, so the motivation to change is not necessarily present. I agree that they represent the same opportunity for empowerment if you consciously choose to dig deeper.
Hi dear Hiroki, I was very happy to find the link to your brilliant and insightful article in my inbox today – thank you so much for writing about another transit topic! I am currently going through the following transits: Pluto sextiles my natal Jupiter, trines my Chiron, and squares my ASC; the intense changes within me make me question my outer appearance at the moment.
Please consider writing a whole series about transits! I truly love the way you’re explaining it. Looking forward to your next article.
Greetings from Europe,
Jasmin
Hi Jasmin,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m really glad you found the article insightful. It sounds like you’re experiencing deep transformation with transiting Pluto square Ascendant (I wrote an an article about that too, in case you haven’t read it yet).
I appreciate your suggestion about a transit series! That’s definitely something I’ll consider for the future. Stay tuned for more articles, and thanks again for your support.
Oh how I was hoping to find a chapter on Pluto transiting the ascendant at the bottom of this page..! Regardless, a great read. Thank you
Hi Antti,
I’m glad you enjoyed the article! I actually did consider writing about Pluto transiting the Ascendant, but I already have an article on that topic. You might find it interesting—check it out!
